Position Summary:

  • The Middle School/Varsity  Track and Field Head Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director in accordance with Atlanta International School’s mission. She/he must create a vertically aligned vision for the track and field program that results in student-athletes achieving their potential academically, socially, morally, and being athletically competitive. Furthermore, she/he must create a diverse and culturally inclusive environment that develops our student-athletes as young leaders while enhancing their experience here at AIS.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Collegiate/Professional Track & Field experience

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years experience as a Head Varsity Track and Field coach.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Promotes the philosophy and objectives of the athletic program; to include adhering to and enforcing all Departmental policies and procedures, as well as rules and regulations of the AIS, GHSA, and NFHS.
  • Schedules and conducts regular practice sessions in and out of season, as permitted by GHSA rules and regulations. Develops and implements strategies for motivating student athletes to perform at maximum levels as both individuals and a team. 
  • Develops a competitive event schedule, in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
  • Cooperates with all coaches with the Athletic Department to enhance overall Department operations.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student-athletes in track & field. 
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.  
  • Ensures that all track & field coaches work together toward a common goal within the track & field program and provide unity with a vertically aligned system.
  • Understand NCAA regulations with regard to academic and athletic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
  • Communicates with parents and students weekly via email regarding schedule.
  • Drives teams to/from away meets in AIS vans.
